Rich and ripe. The color of the 2005 Pinot Gris is yellow gold with beautiful flashes of emerald. Powerful aromatics are redolent of ripe citrus fruits, acacia flowers, tropical fruits (mango, papaya and kiwi), lychee, powdered sugar, honeysuckle, nectarines and pineapple. A concentrated wine with ripe acidity. The finish rolls seamlessly off the mid-palate and lasts forever. The lasting impression is a wine of great ripeness and opulence balanced by wonderful juiciness and succulence. The 2005 Pinot Gris will drink wonderfully for the next two years.
Clear and vibrant, the initial aromas of this wine are of raspberries, blueberries, baking spices and Bing cherries but evolve to the more complex aromas of clean earth, minerals, smoke, red currants and flint. The mouth fulfills the expectations promised by the aromatics and has a rich texture, good acidity and a strong structure.
With its wide variety of origins and clones, this wine displays both red and black fruit aromas (cherries and raspberries), on the nose and the palate. In addition, one finds a light touch of brown spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice) and even a little black pepper. True to our house style, it is elegantly textured with satiny, polished tannins showing in the finish. Pair it with salmon or ahi, veal or pork, poultry (think duck) or beef, and/or hearty vegetarian entrees.
“Rich and full, the beautifully translucent ruby color is a fitting prelude to this robust, velvety wine. True to its roots, which are firmly planted in the red volcanic soils of the Dundee Hills, the 2004 La Colina is a luxurious pinot noir from start to finish. Ripe, spicy aromas are laced with bittersweet wild cherries, spices, vanilla and an earthy warmth. Full, exotic fruit dances on the palate with just enough backbone to balance the depth and concentration with a fresh, bright finish. Aging has brought all the aspects of this complex wine into perfect harmony. Drink now and enjoy.”
"The wines of the Boulder Block are about power; harnessing the heat of the earth with the light of the sun. Boulder Block is often our last block to be harvested and one often processed “whole cluster”-- allowing both grapes and stems a role in natural yeast fermentation. This wine sees more new French oak cooperage than our other reserve wines. The result is a wine of substantial girth and distinctive aromatic character. The Boulder Block benefits greatly from four to six years in cool cellar."
(Winemaker's Notes)
"The 2006 Pinot Noir Les Dijonnais is produced from 100% Dijon clones. It is the densest of these Pinot offerings with more structure, layers of dark fruit flavors, incipient complexity, and superior length."
